“1. Be grateful. It really does start and end with that. 2. Do nothing. No, for reals. Just sit. Just be. Drown out all the clanking and clatter of your day and just connect with yourself. Even it’s only sixty seconds.
3. Never put all your happiness in another person. People change. People leave.
4. Being open about your problems is healthy, but there comes a point when it becomes simply dwelling on the past and it drains everyone around you. Acknowledge when you’ve reached this point.
5. Put some time away to go outside. Netflix, shortbread, eggnog, visiting, shopping, and on and on is killing us. Find balance. Go outside.
6. Don’t be so intense all the time. We all get tired of swimming against the current, sometimes you need to just float. Lighten the eff up!
7. Stop avoiding everything. Avoidance is just a long drawn out suicide.
8. Never underestimate the power of honest words and a handmade gift, money isn’t the only way to tell someone you value them this holiday. Get crafty muthafugga.
9. Boundaries are mandatory. Set ‘em and expect ‘em.
10. Try and understand intentions and situations before you get fed up with someone. Death from assumicide is an awful way to go.
11. Tough love is necessary sometimes. Be a parent, not another one of their friends.
12. Be open to anything and everything. Life is short and definitely not fun when you’re a closed off.
13. If you’re still checking their Facebook/Instagram/Tumblr, you’re never going to get over them. Let that shit go.
14. Always give priority to the ones that make you a priority in their lives. It’s that whole tit for tat thing.
15. Struggle is good. Choose “bring it on!” over “I can’t take it anymore.”
16. Drink more water, dummy.
17. Try to be kind as often as you can. It’s difficult, but honey something something vinegar something something. 18. Shut your mouth, stop thinking you know everything, and listen. Most people are a hell of a lot smart than you think. Make it a goal to learn one new thing today.
19. Everything seems worse first thing in the morning and right before you fall asleep. Recognize this and adjust accordingly.
20. Appropriate footwear is always a smart choice. Winter is not a time for fashion over function.”
