“I’ve been kissed many times, but I’ve never been kissed like that. It felt like drowning but not needing to breathe. Like falling, but never hitting the ground.”

An eclectic look at what I find beautiful and amusing. 50’s male PNW. We’re born alone, we live alone, we die alone. Only through our love and friendship can we create the Illusion for the moment that we’re not alone.

“find love. find love like the one you dreamed of as a five year old which involves flowers and dates and promises. and for a minute just forget what happened in your last relationship. find love like the one that existed in the fairy tales books your father used to read out to you everyday before bed. find love you believe in. find love you want to write stories and poems about. find love you’d tell your daughter to chase. find love you would choose without having second thoughts. find love you just don’t just have to settle for. find love worth waiting for. find love.”

“We build this place with the sand of memories; these castles are our memories and inventiveness made tangible. So part of us believes that when the tide starts coming in, we won’t really have lost anything, because actually only a symbol of it was there in the sand. Another part of us thinks we’ll figure out a way to divert the ocean.”
— Anne Lamott, Bird by Bird: Some Instructions on Writing and Life
I love how you put effort into our relationship. I love that you always make me laugh. I love how you text me first. Whether it’s about a meme or asking me to hang out. I love that you want to spend time with me. I love how you try new things with me even though it’s unfamiliar and you don’t know what you’re doing. I’m glad that I’m not the only one who’s willing to put time and effort into this. I’m glad you like being with and talking to me, even if it’s silly little things….You really like me, don’t you? That’s why you want to hang out whenever we can and why you do things to try to make me happy. You know, I’m not used to this kind of thing. Being a priority or being wanted. Or at least being wanted enough for anyone to do something about it. I really like it.

“We made love and then made love again and then after we had made love once more, quiet and dark and unspeaking and unthinking and then like a shower of meteors on a cold night, we went to sleep.”

“I want to love you despite the madness and darkness that you live with or maybe because of it. Maybe I want to love you because you need it most, because you have lived so long in the dark you have forgotten what light looks like, because I believe you deserve to be loved exhuberantly for being so brave for so long and quite simply because I chose to love you with all that entails.”

“No relationship is perfect, ever. There are always some ways you have to bend, to compromise, to give something up in order to gain something greater…The love we have for each other is bigger than these small differences. And that’s the key. It’s like a big pie chart, and the love in a relationship has to be the biggest piece. Love can make up for a lot.”
